Monemvasia Castle

One of the most stunning and important medieval fortress-cities of Greece. It is also one of the most beautiful castles in the world. Its area consists mostly of a large plateau some 100 metres above sea level, up to 300 m wide and 1 km long, the site of a powerful medieval fortress. Make sure you try delicious Greek food, while enjoying the stunning view in the traditional restaurants located in the Castle (45’ drive)

Areopoli

The word Areopoli, which means "city of Ares", the ancient Greek god of war, became the official name in 1912. Areopoli now has grown into a flourishing town designed in a vintage Greek scenery and vibe. Its tower houses, constructed with field stones, are distinct from the traditional blue and white buildings that characterize many Greek villages. Areopoli is situated near the west coast of the Mani Peninsula, 1.5 km from its port Limeni. It is 20 km southwest of Gytheio. There is a lively open air market in the main square each Saturday, with a lot of local producers present. (1h 20’ drive)

Sparta

Surrounded by the mounts of Taygetos and Parnon, Sparta was once the kingdom of Menelaus and his beautiful queen, the most beautiful of all mortal women of her age, Helen. Well-known for its historic scenery and ancient Greek mythology Sparta is the closest city (apart from the other small villages) that combines history and city amenities. (40’ drive)

Kosmas Village

Kosmas is a mountain village and a former community in Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. It is considered a traditional settlement situated in the southeastern part of the Parnon mountains, at about 1150 m elevation, on the road from Skala (Laconia) to Leonidio offering a great opportunity to enjoy Greek treats and coffee under the famous plane trees. (40’ drive)

Elafonisos

Elafonisos is a small Greek island between the Peloponnese and Kythira. It lies off the coast of Cape Malea and Vatika. The area of the island is 19 square kilometres (7 square miles) and contains one, if not the most beautiful, beach in Greece, the famous Simos beach. Definitely worth a dive. (1h 20’ drive)

Monastery Elonas

Approximately in the middle of the route from Leonidio to the village of Kosmas, is the monastery of Elona, dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. It is constructed on the steep, reddish rock of Parnon, and is one of the most impressive and magnificent monuments of Arcadia. Its name was related to the tradition that people from Elos in Lakonia sought refuge here, bringing with them the miraculous icon of the Hodegetria, which was considered the work of Luke the Evangelist. Nowadays the monastery has renovated cells and auxiliary areas and is accessed through stairs that lead to two successive gates that are protected by murder-holes. Literally on the edge of the rock, an impressive corridor approximately 100 meters long leads to the buildings that are built on various levels and are connected with stairs and corridors.
